Established in 1986, AST Press has published a series of important books for the military history reader or collector interested in the vital periods of the Plains Indian Wars and the Civil War. We also provide the production and editorial services for the annual magazine, Greasy Grass, published by the Custer Battlefield Historical & Museum Association. Our titles have especially focused on events connected with the Great Sioux War of 1876, particularly the legendary Battle of Little Bighorn of 1876 and the man most identified with that engagement, Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer. We also publish periodic catalogs listing used and rare books that focus on the Indian wars, especially in the post-Civil War period. The late Robert Palmer was a long-time fixture as a television news anchor in Denver. Well-known as an Indian Wars enthusiast, he bought many books dealing with Custer and the Indian Wars.
